SAN DIEGO — Two pedestrians were killed Thursday, and a third was hospitalized in critical condition, when the driver of an SUV crashed through a bus stop and struck them before hitting a tree, police said.
The accident occurred at 11:09 a.m. in the 7500 block of Metropolitan Drive near Murray Canyon Road, San Diego Police Officer Tony Martinez said.
“Two of the crash victims were pinned under the vehicle,” said Martinez.
One victim died at the scene, and the other was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.
Both victims were identified as men in their 40s. A third victim, identified as a 49-year-old woman, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
