16-year-old boy shot near movie theater

ESCONDIDO, Calif. — A 16-year-old boy was shot Friday night near a movie theater in Escondido, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. as a result of a fight outside Regal Cinemas at 350 West Valley Parkway, according to Escondido police.

The boy was shot in the calf and was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

After officers were unable to find the shooter, they called off their search. The suspected gunman was described as a Hispanic man, approximately 20 years old wearing a gray sweatshirt, a black hat and glasses.
