1 killed in crash on I-5

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — One person was killed Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in National City, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash on the northbound freeway, just north of state Route 54, occurred at 4:51 a.m., the CHP said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear, but CHP officials said it may have involved one vehicle hitting a parked vehicle in the center divider, according to the CHP.

Lanes on northbound I-5 were closed after the crash until around 10:40 a.m. between Mile of Cars Way and Harbor Drive/Civic Center Drive as authorities investigated.
