JAMUL, Calif. — An SUV and a taxi minivan collided head-on near Steele Canyon High School this afternoon, killing one person and seriously injuring three others, authorities reported.

The accident occurred about 1 p.m. on state Route 94, near Marlena Way in Jamul, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident left the east-west roadway blocked in both directions through mid-afternoon. Officers detoured traffic onto nearby Steele Canyon Road and Singer Lane.
