SAN DIEGO - San Diego police are looking into two armed robberies that happened Tuesday night.

The first was around 8:50 p.m. at the Sands of La Jolla Hotel on La Jolla Boulevard. Police say two men in their 20s wearing dark hoodies and masks entered the hotel and pointed a gun at the cashier, and then demanded cash, jewelry, and a cell phone. The men then fled the scene.

Less than two hours later, a second robbery occurred about six miles away at a Subway restaurant at 3445 Midway Drive. The suspects in the second robbery were also described as two men in their 20s.  Police believe the two robberies may be connected because of their similarities and the matching description of the suspects.

Some nearby residents were upset to hear of the robberies taking place, especially just a couple days before Christmas.

"It's just sad. It's supposed to be a joyful time of year," said nearby resident Sharon Rohner.

Police also believe the robberies may be linked to two robberies last week. On Wednesday, three men held up Los Dos Pedros Taco Shop in Pacific Beach and the Wineding Shoe Salon and Lounge in Hillcrest.

No injuries were reported in the robberies. Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego police.
