SAN DIEGO – The U.S. Coastguard suspended the search for a possibly missing swimmer near the Ocean Beach Pier Monday.

Lifeguards  originally began searching the area Sunday afternoon after receiving a call at about 1:30 a.m.  from a witness who said he saw someone enter the water without returning.  They called off the search 13 hours later after finding nothing.

The Coast Guard resumed the search after sunrise Monday, but it was suspended again shortly before 9 a.m.
