Zara Barker returned to her roots in Southern California and joined FOX 5 in 2022. Born and raised in Riverside County, it’s been Zara’s dream to return closer to home.
Zara was previously an anchor and reporter in St. Louis. She is a proud two-time graduate of the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree, Zara worked as an anchor and reporter for KMIZ in Columbia, Missouri and graduated with her master’s degree. Her work in Columbia earned regional awards.
Zara always knew she wanted to pursue a career in journalism. In elementary school, she would wake up early to watch the news before heading to school to do the morning announcements. Her favorite part of being a journalist is meeting so many different people and telling the stories of those who live in our community.
When Zara is not at the station, she is traveling with her husband, trying new places to eat, supporting small businesses and hanging out with their two mini goldendoodles, Lucia and Dino.
