  • Children suffer carbon monoxide poisoning from faulty heater

    SAN DIEGO – Two children were rushed to a local hospital Friday with carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty wall heater.   Officials with Sharp Memorial Hospital said the children, ages 6 and 12, were admitted to the emergency room Friday morning suffering from the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning.   Dr. Saul Levine said they have since been transferred to another local hospital for treatment.   • Student loses both feet to meningitis

    SAN DIEGO – A University of California Santa Barbara student, from Carlsbad, is recovering after a serious case of meningitis that led to the amputation of both of his feet. Aaron Loy, 18, was rushed to the hospital in Santa Barbara two weeks ago. He has since been transferred to U.C.S.D. Medical Center, where he is now recovering.     SAN DIEGO – The Chargers will be the first NFL team to blackout a game this season when they play the Bengals Sunday. Under the NFL blackout policy, teams must sellout a game within 72 hours of kickoff. If not, the game can’t be shown on local television. A team can request an extension, but the Chargers declined.
