    SAN DIEGO – Police were looking for a homeless man suspected of beating an apartment manager with a baseball bat in North Park. The apartment manager was checking on the property just before 3 a.m. on the 4000 block of Oregon Street, when he came across the homeless man.     SAN DIEGO – A student driver sheared off a fire hydrant in a crash in Clairemont late Wednesday night, firefighters said. The student driver was driving with her mother around 11:20 p.m. and mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brakes, according to firefighters.     SAN DIEGO – An Uber driver was punched in the face and carjacked downtown in the East Village early Wednesday morning, San Diego police said. The driver, 40, was standing outside of his 2011 Nissan Versa around 1:30 a.m. at 10th and E Street with the engine running when he was attacked.     SAN DIEGO – A man was hospitalized Wednesday morning after being rescued from the top of a building in the Morena neighborhood, police said.     Parvovirus closes Escondido dog park

    ESCONDIDO, Calif. – The Mayflower Dog Park in Escondido was closed Tuesday morning after a dog who visited the park came down with a case of Parvo, city officials said. The park at 3420 Valley Center Road was closed as a precautionary measure and was expected to remain closed until January 2, 2016.   • Body found in wrecked car near Warner Springs

    WARNER SPRINGS – A driver died following a crash early Tuesday on state Route 79 near Warner Springs, the California Highway Patrol said. A gray vehicle was spotted overturned between two large rocks on the side of the highway around 3:20 a.m. The wrecked vehicle was found near the Emerald Creek Winery at 38642 state Route 79.
