About Amber:
Amber Coakley is a digital news producer at FOX 5 San Diego. She writes and produces content that can be seen on fox5sandiego.com, the FOX 5 app, and social media.
While growing up in rural Kentucky, watching the local news was a staple family pastime she always enjoyed. Her interest in journalism peaked further at the end of high school when she stumbled upon the art of the storytelling in her coursework, later winning a regional award for her role as yearbook editor.
Amber went on to study at Northern Kentucky University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. She got her start in broadcast news while interning as an associate producer for Cincinnati’s WKRC Local 12 news station.
After college, Amber ventured to sunny San Diego in pursuit of journalism opportunities. In 2017, she became a broadcast news writer for One America News Network, where she was later promoted to senior digital news producer and digital content manager.
After almost six years with the network and a stint in the political news arena, she set her sights on FOX 5 San Diego. She joined the team in September of 2022, returning to her roots of local news production.
