Man arrested after shed fire in East County

EL CAJON, Calif. -- Police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after a "suspicious" fire damaged a shed on a property in El Cajon, authorities said.

The blaze was reported at 2:45 p.m. behind a house in the 100 block of Chamberlain Avenue, near South Orange Avenue, according to El Cajon police.

Officers took a man into custody on an unspecified narcotics charge, police said. It was not known whether the man lives at the house or in the shed behind it.

A hazardous materials team was called in to investigate.
