SAN DIEGO -- The California Coastal Commission on Thursday unanimously voted to approve the permit for Southern California Edison to dismantle the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.

The commission gave the green light to Edison to move forward with its project, which fully decomissions the facility.

The meeting was open to the public, and many residents showed up to voice their opposition to the project.
