SAN DIEGO — Crews battled a brush fire that burned about five acres near Palomar Mountain Thursday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. off State Route 76 and Red Gate Road, in a valley southwest of Palomar Mountain.
Authorities closed SR-76 as crews battled the flames. It took about 90 minutes to bring the fire under control, though traffic delays were reported throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

No people were injured and no structures were damaged in the fire.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
