SAN DIEGO -- Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help in determining who has been maliciously damaging vehicles and businesses -- apparently via BB gun attacks -- in various San Diego neighborhoods over the last few weeks.
The vandalism spree has been going on since late June and has victimized people in Clairemont, the College area, Hillcrest, Lake Murray, the Midway district, Mission Hills, Ocean Beach, Park West and Point Loma, according to San Diego police.
The most recent of the crimes, which have taken place late at night or in the early morning, occurred Monday.
"Right now, there is no indication the incidents are connected, but we are asking for the public to be on the lookout and to report any vandalism to our department," Sgt. William Pettus said.
Investigators believe the damages have been inflicted by BB gun pellets, the sergeant said.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
