NATIONAL CITY, Calif. -- Homicide detectives Monday night were investigating after two people were dropped off at a hospital in National City and one died from apparent stab wounds, authorities said.
Officers responded at 6:45 p.m. to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and men fighting at Kennedy Neighborhood Park, according to Officer John Buttle of San Diego Police Department said.
Witnesses told police nearly a dozen people went to the park to continue a fight that had started a nearby taco shop, police said. When the officers arrived, the fight was over and all of the participants appeared to have left.
Two stabbing victims were taken to Paradise Valley Hospital shortly before 7 p.m. and one of them died and the other suffered non-life threatening injuries, Buttle said.
The 19-year-old victim who died has been identified, but his name was released. The second victim was also a 19-year-old man.
A detailed description of the suspect or suspects was not immediately available.
