Elderly couple rescued from Del Mar house fire

DEL MAR, Calif. – An elderly couple was rescued from their burning home in Del Mar Monday morning, authorities said.

Deputies helped an elderly man in a wheelchair who was on the first floor as well as an elderly woman who was on the second floor of a house in the 100 block of 27th Street around 5 a.m., Lt. Dave Perkins of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. said.

Firefighters from Del Mar, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe and Solana Beach worked together to extinguish the blaze.

Authorities did not release information about the medical condition of the couple.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
