OB Pier closes because of high surf again

The Ocean Beach Pier was closed Tuesday for the third time in as many weeks.

SAN DIEGO — For the third time in as many weeks, lifeguards closed the Ocean Beach Pier Tuesday because of high surf.

Waves up to 6 feet high were forecast for the day. They are expected to create a strong rip current risk.

Swimmers and surfers were advised to stay out of the water.

The high waves were expected to last through the evening.

Around 4:15 p.m., lifeguards reopened the pier to the public.
