Woman, teen injured in Paradise Hills shootout

SAN DIEGO -- Police were searching for two men who injured innocent bystanders as they shot at one another in southeast San Diego Saturday evening.

Gunfire erupted at the intersection of Cumberland Street and Reo Drive in Paradise Hills around 6 p.m., San Diego police confirmed. In the chaos, a woman was hit in the leg by shrapnel and a 15-year-old boy was hit in the thigh with a bullet.

Both victims were taken to the hospital but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

A witness described hearing five or six gunshots.

"Small caliber pops started going off across the street," Jauhn Hinkle told FOX 5. "I saw a muzzle flash and one young person pursuing another at close range."

Hinkle said he lives in the area.

"Most of the people in this neighborhood do good things," Hinkle said. "This isn't reflective of what this neighborhood is like."

San Diego police were investigating what led up to the fight and still searching for the men Saturday night.
