Trump approves California emergency declaration in response to wildfires

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump Friday declared an emergency in the state of California and ordered federal assistance to supplement local response as three major wildfires burn across the state.

This action allows the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate disaster relief efforts and provide assistance for required emergency measures to save lives and protect property, public health and safety in Butte, Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
