SAN DIEGO - A man was killed when his pickup truck struck the side of a car and overturned several times at an intersection in the Bay Ho neighborhood, police said Tuesday.

It happened shortly before 11:15 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Clairemont Drive and Balboa Avenue, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

A 24-year-old woman was driving a Toyota sedan eastbound on Balboa Avenue when a 37-year-old man driving a Ford F-150 pickup northbound on Clairemont Drive ran a red light and struck the passenger side of the Toyota in the intersection, Heims said.

The pickup truck rolled several times, ejecting the driver onto the roadway, Heims said.

The man, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, Heims said.

The woman suffered minor injuries, but declined transport to a hospital, Heims said.

The San Diego Police Department's traffic division was investigating the crash.
