VISTA, Calif. — A suspected gang shooting in Vista early Wednesday left a 29-year-old man wounded.

The gunfire in the 500 block of North Santa Fe Avenue erupted about 12:15 a.m., according to sheriff’s officials.

The shooter fled with several of his male companions in a black sedan, Sgt. Nathan Rowley said.

Medics took the victim, whose name was not released, to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his back, the sergeant said.

Detectives from the sheriff’s Vista Street Narcotics and Gang Detail were called in to investigate the shooting.
