SAN DIEGO — A 55-year-old man was beaten up and carjacked Saturday at a motel in the Talmadge neighborhood of San Diego.

Police were called about 12:15 a.m. to the La Cresta Motel, 4890 El Cajon Blvd., and discovered the victim had sustained several cuts, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.

In the course of the investigation, officers learned the victim saw three people in his car while it was parked in a space at the motel. He confronted them while they were in the car and two men and a woman got out and started to beat up the victim, Heims said.

The suspects took the victim to his room and tied him up, took his keys and several pieces of property, then left the room and took the man’s vehicle, Heims said.

The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Heims said.

The vehicle is a tan, 4-door 2000 Buick Century with unknown Arizona plates, Heims said.

A detailed description of the suspects was not immediately available.
