Construction worker ruptures gas line at Starbucks

OTAY MESA, Calif. - A gas leak at a Starbucks in Otay Mesa caused people to evacuate the shopping center Wednesday, authorities said.

Utility crews secured the gas leak in the 3300 block of Palm Avenue in Otay Mesa as of 10:15 a.m., San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman Alec Phillipp said.

Construction workers ruptured a gas line behind a Starbucks that was closed for renovations. The building in the shopping center was briefly evacuated, but no injuries were reported.
