Burst pipe floods streets in La Jolla

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- A burst pipe flooded streets in La Jolla Friday evening, affecting traffic and nearby businesses.

A line to a fire hydrant broke around 4:50 p.m. near Girard Avenue and Pearl Street in La Jolla Village. Officers shut down the intersection until utility crews make repairs and clean up.

“They blocked off the entire road and it’s kind of affecting the traffic over here. Reservations are cancelled," Saransh Oberoi, owner of Masala Street, said.

Less than two hours after the break, Oberoi told FOX 5 four reservations had been canceled, including a party of 16.

“It is stressful because you never know, it’s a Friday night. Losing business and revenue is not a good thing,” Oberoi said. “It’s a huge set back for us."

There were no reports of structural flooding, according to San Diego police.
