Man shot near bus stop in Southcrest

SAN DIEGO – A man was seeing his girlfriend off at a bus stop in Southcrest when he was shot in the back Sunday night, police said.

The victim was walking away from the bus stop at 8:45 p.m. near 40th Street and National Avenue when he was shot, according to San Diego police.

The man was shot in the back, just above his buttocks. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive the gunshot wound, police said.

Officers said the shooting was not gang-related.

The gunman was described as a 22 to 25-year-old black man wearing a blue and grey hoodie. He drove eastbound on National Avenue in a blue compact car.
