Man stabbed over cigarette in Balboa Park

SAN DIEGO -- A man was stabbed Sunday while sitting on a bench in San Diego's Balboa Park, authorities said.

The stabbing was reported at 12:26 a.m. at 2000 Park Boulevard, Officer J. Buttle said.

The suspect walked up to the 29-year-old man and asked him for a cigarette, Buttle said. "The victim said he didn't have one and the suspect stabbed the victim in the neck."

The wound was not believed to be life-threatening and the victim had stable vital signs when taken to a hospital for treatment, the officer said.
