SAN DIEGO -- Construction workers caused a gas leak in City Heights Friday afternoon, fire officials said.

The leak was reported around noon in the 4200 block of Van Dyke Avenue. The road is closed as SDG&E crews work to cap the gas line.

Neighbors in the area are being asked to stay indoors, and two evacuations were reported. It's not yet clear when the residents will be able to return home.
