SAN DIEGO — A pedestrian suffered serious injuries Friday when a minivan struck him on a Teralta East roadside, authorities reported.

The 36-year-old man was standing on or next to a driveway on a sidewalk in front of a bakery in the 4400 block of University Avenue when the Honda Odyssey hit him as the driver pulled in to an adjacent parking lot shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.

Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a broken pelvis and cuts to his face and upper body, Officer Tony Martinez said.

It was unclear if the motorist would be cited over the accident.
