LOS ANGELES – A police chase along U.S. Highway 101 in the downtown Los Angeles area turned into a high-speed pursuit on busy highways Wednesday.

San Gabriel police began pursuing the white car on west Interstate 10, then the driver exited and started heading onto various streets, KTLA reported.

KTLA’s helicopter video showed police following a white car through traffic. The car passed through the Hollywood area around 11:45 a.m. before getting back on a freeway.

At 12:35 p.m., the driver lost control of his vehicle on an eastbound exit ramp in Cerritos, Calif. The car came to a stop in scrubs along the exit ramp.

The driver appeared to exit the vehicle on the passenger side and was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers.

The man’s identity was not immediately known.

No one was injured as a result of the pursuit.
