SAN DIEGO - A deer running loose in the busy business district in Kearny Mesa had law enforcement officers blocking traffic Monday.

County of San Diego Animal Control had an officer at 8888 Balboa Avenue to make sure no one harmed the deer.

"The deer just needs to be left alone and it will leave the area.  Per the California Department of Fish and Game, this happens regularly."

It was first spotted near Interstate 15 and Ruffin Road.

The deer made its way into a business park and eventually went through the parking lot and through a fence into an open field.

“They feed at night. My guess is he didn’t pay attention and all of a sudden, there’s light, cars and people. He got himself into a bad situation," said Shawnie Williams with San Diego Fawn Rescue.
