SAN DIEGO -- Vehicles that crash off a freeway rarely stick the landing like an Olympic gymnast, but this one did.

car-163An out-of-control SUV careened off northbound state Route 163 near SR-52 Thursday, landing nose-first on the outskirts of a Kearny Villa Road auto dealership and coming to rest balanced perpendicular to the ground, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The green Ford Explorer struck four other vehicles -- two moving and two parked -- during the accident, which occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m., CHP public affairs Officer Robert Catano said.
