SAN DIEGO — San Diego police sought Friday a man who carjacked a delivery driver in the Teralta neighborhood.

The victim was using her personal vehicle, a 2007 Honda Civic, to drop off packages at an address on Menlo Avenue near El Cajon Boulevard when the suspect approached shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

She had just stepped out of her running car and was looking at a scanning device when the suspect ran up behind her, pushed her aside, hopped into her car and sped off, Heims said.

The car was found in an alley off Imperial Avenue in the Valencia Park area later in the day but it was not immediately clear what, if anything, had been taken from it, according to the officer.

Police described the suspect as black, in his 30s and about 5 feet 10. He was wearing dark clothing and a “Rasta hat.”
