ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- A man was fatally stabbed before dawn Friday at an Escondido home during a domestic dispute and his 35-year-old girlfriend was arrested, police said.

Police officers responding to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence in the 2200 block of East Lincoln Avenue near East El Norte Parkway around 2:10 a.m. found a man inside suffering from multiple stab wounds, and a second man and a woman outside, according to Escondido police Lt. Ed Varso.

Varso told reporters that the victim's girlfriend had called a family member, who in turn called 911.

The victim was taken to Palomar Medical Center, but later died. His name was withheld pending family notification.

The man's girlfriend, Alda Garcia of Escondido, was arrested on suspicion of murder and infliction of injury on a spouse or cohabitant, Varso said.
