SAN DIEGO – Law enforcement and community members joined together Monday to punch heavy bags for 60 seconds, making a visual statement to support "punching out racism, violence and distrust of the police."

ABC Youth Foundation’s '1,000,000 Punches from the Heart' is a community awareness and boxing fundraising campaign that benefits ongoing after school tutoring, boxing and mentoring programs for San Diego's inner-city youth.

Punching bags were set up at schools, businesses and gyms across the city, and community members punched the heavy bag for 60 seconds at a time. All of the punches are added up to reach a goal of 1,000,000 punches.

The community punch-out took place in front of the police station Monday from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m.
