SAN DIEGO – A 23-year-old man who was shot earlier Saturday in the Linda Vista community has died from his injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The victim has been identified Jordy Ramon Lopez of Linda Vista, said Lt. Manny Del Toro of the SDPD Homicide Unit.

Just before 8 a.m., police were notified that Lopez had died at a local hospital, Del Toro said.

Shortly after 4 a.m., Lopez was walking in the 2200 block of Comstock Street when a vehicle drove by and an occupant threw a beer bottle at him, Officer Tony Martinez said. Immediately after that, someone inside the vehicle shot the man, Martinez said.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Lopez conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound to his upper body. No suspect or vehicle description was available.

The Homicide Unit is asking anyone with information to call 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-580-8477.
