A 24-year-old who man was driving south on Ash Street in a green 1996 Volkswagen, struck Torrez who was lying in the roadway and came to rest on top of Torrez.

Fire personnel used special equipment to lift the vehicle off of Torrez, but he died at the scene. Life-saving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful, Kearney said.
