SAN DIEGO — A motorcyclist was in custody Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after colliding with a vehicle in Bay Park.

The crash was reported around 7:30 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Morena Boulevard and Ticonderoga Street, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.

The motorcyclist, identified as 38-year-old Timothy Sullivan, was riding a Harley-Davison south on Morena Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass a Honda Civic and swiped the vehicle, Heims said.

Sullivan lost control and crashed, sustaining an open fracture to his right leg.

The San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the accident was asked to call Heims at (619) 531-2000 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
