Driver arrested after fiery car crash

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – A driver was arrested after his car slammed into a guardrail and burst into flames overnight in Chula Vista.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. just north of the E Street ramp on Interstate 805.

The car reportedly hit the right guardrail, slid down the freeway and burst into flames. At least three people got out of the car and started running. The driver was arrested a short distance away. The passengers were able to get away.

No word yet on what charges the driver is facing.

The road was closed for about 40 minutes.
