SAN DIEGO --  Dave Schroeder went surfing two months ago at Sunset Cliffs when he suffered a massive heart attack.

After feeling tired, he had decided to paddle in.

He found himself on his hands and knees on the rocks when a wave washed him back into the water.

A friend and fellow surfer kept Schroeder's head above the water until help arrived.

Within minutes, police officers, firefighters and lifeguards were working on Schroeder who was transported to the UCSD Medical Center.

"I can't really tell you how blessed I am to still be here and be able to hug my kids, son and daughter, my wife, not everyone gets that chance I was gone for a while, they brought me back," said Schroeder.

On Thursday night, he got a chance to meet the first responders and the surgical team from UCSD Medical Center who saved his life.

"It's just short of miraculous that I'm still here," said Schroeder.
