SUTTER COUNTY, Calif.  — One pilot was killed Tuesday after a U-2 Dragon Lady crashed during a training flight, about 45 miles north of Sacramento, just west of Yuba City, officials said.

The crash happened in the Sutter Buttes around 9:30 a.m. and may have sparked a wildfire in the area.

Both pilots on board were able to eject, FOX 40 reported. Air Force officials say one of the pilots was killed and the other sustained injuries. The pilot’s cause of death was not immediately disclosed, nor was the nature of the other pilot’s injuries.

The United States Air Force officials posted on Twitter the plane was a U-2 from Beale Air Force Base, home of the 9th Reconnaissance Wing.
