SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A college student took on a charging great white shark while swimming off the coast of Santa Barbara.

Tyler McQuillen, 22, had a GoPro camera attached to a spear gun while he swam in the Pacific Ocean. Video captured the moment the shark approached him and bit McQuillen’s foot.

Over the next minute, the shark is seen as it returns to where McQuillen is frantically swimming away. The shark finally leaves after McQuillen jabs it with his spear gun.

McQuillen, who has lost one of his flippers in the battle, swims backward to get away. He ended up breaking two of his toes in the attack, the Daily Mail reported.
