SAN DIEGO -- A  sinkhole opened up on Miramar Road early Wednesday morning near Distribution Avenue.

Last week, a water main broke in the same area, causing traffic delays for nearly a day.

Wednesday's sinkhole, which is about four feet by 10 feet wide, is in the left turn lane. The lane has been closed and the closure is not yet affecting the morning rush-hour traffic.

City officials say the sinkhole was caused by saturated soil settling beneath the roadway. Crews are adding asphalt to fill the depression until a more permanent repair can be made.
