SAN DIEGO – A 17-year-old was arrested Sunday for allegedly starting the so-called Point Fire in Spring Valley last month.

According to investigators, the teen started the blaze on August 17. Several homes were threatened as it blackened 25 acres.

Residents were forced to evacuate and a firefighter battling the blaze was bitten by a rattlesnake.

The teen is charged with willfully and maliciously setting fire to forest land. The teen's identity has not been released.

One resident was glad to hear an arrest has been made.

"I'm glad someone is going to have to take responsibility for this, hopefully word gets out that you can't do something like this and get away with it," said resident Garry Allen.
