Police chase down masked man after Pacific Beach break-in

SAN DIEGO – Police chased down a burglary suspect Tuesday morning after they spotted him on the balcony of a home in Pacific Beach.

The woman who lived in the home in the 600 block of Loring Street called police around 6:30 a.m. and told them she was hiding in her garage after a masked man broke into her home, San Diego police Lt. Dan Smith said. Smith said the intruder told her he was chasing someone out of the home.

When officers arrived at the home, they spotted a man on a second-floor balcony. One of the responding officers recognized the man and called him by name. The man jumped from the balcony and ran off, but officers caught him after a short foot chase.

Officers searched the home with a police dog and determined there were no other intruders in the home.

Investigators were working with the resident to determine if anything had been take from the home.
