TEMECULA, Calif. – The remains of five people were found inside a Temecula-area senior care facility that was destroyed by a "suspicious" fire, investigators said Tuesday.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department told ABC7 firefighters found the remains in the aftermath of a blaze in the 41400 block of Cruz Way Monday morning.  The would not release any other details regarding the discovery.

The fire was reported around 5 a.m. and about two dozen firefighters contained it within an hour, Cal Fire officials said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.

One neighbor described how her husband tried to help.

"He jumped the fence to wake up the owner of the house to let them know their front house was on fire and he called 9-1-1," said the neighbor who did not want to give out her name.

"He said that it was the fastest few minutes of his life and that he'd never been this close to something so horrible."
