1 arrested, 1 suspect at large in deadly shooting
SAN DIEGO — One of two men suspected of opening fire on a group of people in the O’Farrell neighborhood four weeks ago, killing an 18-year-old man, was behind bars Tuesday, but his alleged accomplice remained at large.
Deshaun Prescott, 25, and an unidentified man allegedly shot Greggory Davis and 25-year-old Avery Ealy near the intersection of 61st and Alderley streets on the evening of Aug. 2, then fled, according to San Diego police Lt. Manny Del Toro.
Both victims were gone when officers arrived, but evidence of a shooting was left behind. Shortly afterward, staffers at Paradise Valley Hospital in National City alerted police that two gunshot victims had shown up.
Police did not disclose what led investigators to identify Prescott as one of the assailants. Prescott had been in jail since his arrest on a probation violation Aug. 21, and has since had murder added to the charges against him, according to police and jail records.
Del Toro said the second shooter remains unidentified. A detailed description was not immediately available, but authorities said he was a thin black man between the ages of 19 and 21, and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
Police asked anyone with information on the case to call SDPD’s Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
