RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A portrait of a hangman holding a noose with a caption “I’m Ready for Hillary” was posted by the Riverside County Republican Party Twitter account, a newspaper reported.

The tweet was posted by the county’s GOP party Wednesday afternoon, but has since been removed, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.

Riverside County GOP Chairman Scott Mann told the newspaper he was “horrified” by the tweet and would take action against the person responsible.

“While some may think it was political satire, it clearly has no place in American political dialogue,” Mann stated. “As Chairman of the Republican Party of Riverside County, I apologize to everyone and anyone who was offended by it. I have taken steps to ensure that the individual who posted the Tweet no longer has access and I can assure you the person responsible will be held accountable.”

According to the Press-Enterprise, Mann’s original response had a different tone.

“That meme is nothing more than political satire. It simply expresses how Ms. Clinton seemingly has gotten away with every scandal and political flip-flop in her public life — from classified email and Benghazi to her changing positions on healthcare, TPP, NAFTA, gay marriage, etc.,” Mann reportedly stated in an earlier email to the newspaper.
