Spicy Homemade Buffalo Wings with Dip and Beer

SAN DIEGO – It’s one of the most delicious days of the year — National Chicken Wing Day.

From buffalo to barbecue, the holiday is the perfect excuse to treat yourself.

At Dirty Birds in Pacific Beach, get your hands messy with half-priced wings on Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters are also offering hot (or mild depending on your taste) deals on free wings and more.

At Buffalo Wild Wings, all wings will be half off all day on July 29 at participating locations.

At Wings-N-Things on July 29, buy any bone-in single meal and a fountain drink and you’ll receive a coupon for a free single meal and a fountain drink valid August 1 through 31 at participating locations.

Hooters is offering customers all-you-can-eat wings for  $12.99-$14.99 (depending on location) on July 28 and July 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This weekend, about 20 restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter will also compete for a trophy and bragging rights in the 2016 Wing Wars.

Chefs will create and enter their most exciting flavor of chicken wings: from tripled-fired five spice and molé to Vietnamese glazed sweet and sour and Jamaican jerk.

Sample succulent wings and then vote for your favorite! The event kicks off at McFaddens Bar at noon on Saturday. Must be 21 years or older.
