SAN DIEGO — A 24-year-old man allegedly stabbed his father and beat him with a table leg in San Diego’s Encanto neighborhood Tuesday before officers arrested him.

The 54-year-old victim was painting the porch of his home in the 700 block of Iona Drive about 5:40 p.m. when his son, identified as Miguel Aguilar Jr. “walked out and started stabbing him with a knife,” according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.

“The victim was able to get the knife away from his son who then picked up a table leg and started hitting him with it,” Heims said. “The police arrived and arrested the suspect. The victim had injuries to his mouth, neck, shoulder and elbow.”

He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were described as non-life-threatening.

It’s unclear what prompted the attack.

“He did not say anything and the reason is unknown,” Heims said.
