3 injured in crash involving charter bus

At least one person was injured when a car and charter bus collided in Alpine Monday morning.

ALPINE, Calif. – A collision in between a two cars and a charter bus in Alpine sent at least three people to the hospital Monday morning, patrol officer said.

The accident happened around 10 a.m. on Willows Road north of Interstate 8 and temporarily shut down the roadway.

The driver of a Ford Escort was traveling westbound on Willows Road east of Browns Road and attempted a U-turn when the charter bus crashed into it, according to the California Highway Patrol. A second car, traveling eastbound, was unable to avoid the collision and also hit the Escort.

Two people inside the Escort were taken to a hospital with major injuries. One person aboard the bus was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the eastbound car was not hurt.

Fifteen passengers were aboard the bus.
